PROFILE

The founding charter of the MAARIF Institute for Culture and Humanity (2003) affirms the institution’s core commitment as a cultural movement rooted in the values of keislaman (Islam), keindonesiaan (Indonesian identity), and kemanusiaan (universal humanity). These three pillars are central to the intellectual and activist journey of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Syafii Maarif, former Chairman of Muhammadiyah (1998–2005) and past President of the World Conference on Religion for Peace (WCRP).

VISION
To become a center for Islamic thought reform and advocacy that fosters the praxis of Islam, where social justice and humanity serve as the foundational pillars of Indonesian identity—aligned with the social ideals and intellectual legacy of Ahmad Syafii Maarif.
MISION
To promote the realization of democratic values, human rights, and pluralism in order to restore public civility, mutual respect, and constructive collaboration for the sake of Indonesian nationhood and humanity.

To strengthen and expand the participation of civil society and youth in building a just social order grounded in diversity.

MAARIF House
Ruang Dialog, Rumah Toleransi
MAARIF House is a dialogic platform that brings together stakeholders from the public sector, private sector, and civil society to discuss pressing public issues and generate relevant, accountable policy recommendations.
MAARIF Academy
Didik Pemimpin, Bangun Peradaban
MAARIF Academy comprises three flagship programs: Jambore Pelajar Teladan Bangsa (JPTB), a training program for high school students; the Ahmad Syafii Maarif School of Culture and Humanity (SKK-ASM), an academic forum to explore the thoughts of Ahmad Syafii Maarif; and the MAARIF Fellowship, a research grant for undergraduate students. Together, these programs foster inclusive citizenship, critical thinking, and leadership among youth.
